Well, you've made it! This page is for my friends who wanted to see some photos of my adventures. This page was last updated june 2 1999. Thanks for visiting, and e-mail me when you find the time! |
Here are the latest photos-
Well, kids! time for an update! Now living and working in Venice, CA. Hey This SoCal thing ain't so bad! Some pics of the pad the work pad and a pic of one of the finer eateries that California is known for. |
For my Big B-Day, I took a trek up to the Sierras. The mission- Snowboard at Mammoth Mtn., then bike Mono Lake. The top shot- not a bad spot for a pee break!
|
Along the way, about four hours into the trip to Mammoth, I saw this grave, and had to stop. It was none other
than- The amount of crap on this grave is astounding, but I did admire the sneakers- made the grave! |
| Well, first part of THE MISSION attained! Here
I am at Mammoth. This was my first beer in nearly 5 months! (you don't
have to believe that, but it's true.Later that night I went wild and had
3 more then fell asleep). Hey the boardin' ain't so bad here either! If you ever get here, be sure to have breakfast at the Alpenrose. Absolutely perfect!( no, I didn't get paid to say that) |
Now at Mono Lake. Phase two attained. Listened to Pink Floyd while cruising down the dirt road leadimg to the lake.( Careful with that Ax Eugene. The reference will make sense to afficandados) Note the Brooklyn t-shirt. Unfortunately, as I soon found out, the mountain biking was nearly impossible. It is also not allowed! I did find some biking along the way however. |
The next series of shots are of the Tufa Towers. These formations
were created as water from underground springs entered the highly carbonate
and mineral rich waters of Mono Lake. These towers were once under water.
If you touch the water, it has a slimy, high viscosity feel. It also has
a salty and bitter taste. Trust me on that one! There is much to learn about
this lake, and you should go a very cool web site devoted to this fragile
enviroment to learn more- www.monolake.org |
| These images are of higher quality and may take some time to download, but it was a beautiful day in a wonderous place- I think you'll find the wait worthwhile! Tufa1 |
The black dot s you see in the sky are some of of the many birds that
you can see here. |
They say that 85% of California's seagull population nest here in June/July. That's one flock 'o fowl! |
|
The elevation is about 8,000 feet here, and it's very easy to get winded. The sun is very bright as well, and it's very easy to get fried! After going to the lake I'd stopped at nearby Panum Crater. Way cool. Ran out of film, but have a good memory of the little neo-hippy kids I ran into. Did some more impossible mtn. biking. |
This is a shot of some that wacky sand Tufa. It's formed a little bit differently than the lake Tufa. It is really wild stuff! Looks like something out of a Roger Dean illustration! It's also incredibly fragile, only magrinally firmer than a sand castle, and yet has survived for many years |
Time to head back. Here are some shots along the way. |
| This was a great stop! Here's a picture of me and a picture of the girls who took a picture of me. They were from the Czech Repulick, and seemed to have lots to say, though I can't seem to remember any of it! | Now, this is what life is all about! indeed this feller's ad was true to the mark, and kept me gased up all the way home. |
I had fun, and thought of my friends back east. maybe next year we'll do a big 'ol bon fire upstate NY somewhere! 'Till then- Live Large (just watch the calories!) |
Previous photos
| Here's some shots of Mt Hood Meadows.
(Oregon) That's me and Tracey in the parking lot being goofy! The red arrow is pointing to Heather Canyon where we spent most of our day. The big guy is Ben. Give this guy lots of room on the slope! |
Here are some shots in and around Heather Canyon Some really great tree skiing here! Up top on the ridge, was wind swept and icy, but soon turned to heavy deep powder. In the glades was the best snow. |
Whoa! Just missed that tree...Uh - Oh, here comes some more trees! |
| Here's a couple of shots of Tracey, so she can prove to her brother that she can indeed ride! | Now in Lake Tahoe, with buddy John. Something about the sculpture at the pub reminds me of the place. | At the summit at Squaw Valley. Quite
possibly the best terrain I've seen at any resort. It did, however kick my ass! |
| Now in So Cal. Some shots of cousin Chris in Cayucos | Well, that's it for now! Please keep in touch, and I'm always thinking of you! | |
| Snowqualmie Pass Heading up through Snowqualmie pass, what a day! |
Just minding my own biz Sure! I'll strike a pose for ya! |
Getting ready to Rumble! Here's A shot of my teammates John and his girlfriend Michelle and me with the craft in happier days! |
| In the gate Here we are pushing off from the stating gate ready to rock! (notice the other fellow in the second lane with a substantial lead!) |
Oh NO! My worst fears now realized, we wipe out and flounder for the crowd! |
Undaunted Courage Not ones who give up, we mount our derby again, ready for the course! (another major wipe occurred moments after this shot was taken) |
| Nary a brain cell to be found!Once again the intrepid derby doers mount up, bruised and banged, but still determined to win this Goddamn race! (After the next wipe out, the craft folded in half, whereupon I took said craft and flung it off the course!) Hey John! Thanks a million!( at least I didn't go down alone!) | Free at Last! Now that that's over with, time for some skiing! (or am trying to pinch that girl's ass?) | The payoff! All Righty then! Here's a view from the lift. For all you skiers out there, note this- take a close look at the mountain in the sun. in the lower right side where the shadow is, you'll notice a trail going up the mountain. There were some locals who were getting snowmobile lifts up this trail, then hiking to just about where the clouds come down, then skiing that terrain. -looked like some fantastic runs they had, as they went over cliffs, and through the trees! |
| PARTY IMAGE Here is a big jpg of my going away party! A good time was had by all, especially me! Thank you all for coming! If you have any shots of the party send 'em my way! |
LEAVING WINDHAM PIC A shot of my last visit to the Blackhead Mt. and Thomas Cole Mt. trails, and a pic on the way out. |
IN COLORADO In the bottom image, I'm at a rifle range outside of Boulder. I'm wearing the fleece, cap, and daypack the folks at TSP gave me as a going away gift. Thanks again! My buddy Louie took this shot. |
| IN UTAH Here are some shots from the Great Salt Lake The bottom pic is some sort of sculpture in the middle of nowhere. There's no turn off here or anything. It's about 50-60 foot tall, and I've got no clue why it exists! |
IN NEVADA Some great driving weather going through here! In the center shot I'm on the road to Bonneville speedway. The dark brown spot to right of my car is a tumble weed . It was really taking off! |
IN CA. AT SHASTA |
OREGON CRATER LAKE-ALMOST Almost got to see Crater Lake but got turned back by rangers. Nice scenery anyway. Lots of snow around, and had to put on the chains. |
MADE IT! Top shot- the Gig harbor neighborhood Center, the Anderson's at the pad. Bottom, almost Turkey dinner! |
SKI TIME! Check this out!The shot on the left is a detail from the right image. I've only gone skiing once here, but will go again as soon as possible!Skied the Snorting Elk Bowl, (located near center of pic), just for the hell of it, and biffed big time! Had a great time! Some serious steeps! Will be checking out Snoqualmie soon- more later. |
